Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays — Beauty Heaven!

I felt like I landed in beauty heaven when I got some much needed pampering at Chanel's "Evening of Cocktails and Summer Manicures" party last week — a lovely way to check out the brand's latest beauty collections.

The Robertson Boulevard store, which features a beautiful courtyard, was the setting for this makeup mecca. Chanel transformed a "flower cart" into a colorful display of nail polishes where guests could choose a shade for their manicures. I picked a bright fuchsia called "Suspicious," perfect for warm weather. There were plenty of manicurists on hand to beautify guests and we had the best time people watching, looking at the stylish crowd. As for the manicures, the artists were using black emery boards with the Chanel logo and I really wanted to take one because they were so chic, but I controlled my urge.

And leave it up to the iconic brand to come up with this genius idea…a Chanel vending machine dispensing….Chanel lipsticks. Each guest was given a "credit card" to insert into the machine, where they could choose a lipstick. What an awesome idea! Needless to say, the ladies were lining up for this one! These should be everywhere so people can get a quick beauty pick-me-up anytime!

There were also tables of makeup on display so everyone could check things out, experiment and play with the products. I was lucky enough to meet the extremely chic Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Fulvia Farolfi at the event, and she was kind enough to show me a couple of things.

Fulvia has worked with Victoria Beckham, Kate Beckingsale, and Sarah Jessica Parker to name a few, and her eye for what works was apparent right away. At a table displaying the "Les Beiges" collection of sheer color for the face (which debuts in August), she immediately picked out a color for me, that I would have thought too dark. I usually go for the lightest shade there is to match my very pale skin, but she showed me how to blend a couple of colors to give me a glow and warm up my skin. She also used a foundation brush, which I would have never thought to do. The things you learn!

Fulvia made me look beautiful and more importantly, feel beautiful, which can be a bit of a challenge when you're eight and a half months pregnant. This shot of glamour was just the pick-me-up I needed!
