Glam Slam: The Friday Five — Transitioning Your Summer Wardrobe Into Fall!

With summer over and Labor Day a distant memory, we're getting our closets ready for fall.

Of course we have our wardrobe staples like warm boots, cozy sweaters, leather jackets, and….white jeans? Does that "No White after Labor Day" rule still exist?

We caught up with Jessica Quirk, author of "What I Wore: Four Seasons, One Closet, Endless Recipes for Personal Style" and of the blog "What I Wore" to fill us in on how to transition your summer wardrobe into the cooler months.

Bright Skirt:
When transitioning your bright skirt, think about the fabric. According to Jessica, "a bright yellow wool skirt looks great in the fall, but a chiffon version feels out of place." Layer your skirt with a dark blouse to really make the skirt pop.

Chambray Shirt:
This closet must-have is easily transitioned into fall with black jeans or a wool skirt. "Dark washes also look especially cool for fall," so consider pairing a darker Chambray shirt with black jeans and a bright scarf.

Maxi Dress:
"Steer clear of anything too tropical or summery" and instead opt for darker colors. Jessica loves "layering sweaters over black maxi dresses, and layering again with a moto jacket" for fall. The moto jacket toughens up a glamorous maxi dress.

White Jeans:
"White denim is more of a climate thing than a calendar thing," says Jessica. "If you find yourself in a cooler locale, opt for winter white." Pair white jeans with a dark blazer to make them more winter appropriate.

Peep Toe Heels:
According to Jessica, you can definitely "wear peep to heels year round, even with tights!" Just be sure to "conceal the seam under your toes and your nails should still be polished."
